Sean and Jenny – New Zealand Wedding

I am so excited to share this wedding with you all today! I want to introduce you guys to two of the sweetest people on earth! Literally on earth.. we went all the way to New Zealand to verify this. Those of you who have the privilege of knowing this couple personally can attest to this. These two evoke pure joy and happiness, and have two of the most gentle and kind hearts you will ever meet. Too much sweetness to describe really! Just want to say thanks to Abby for featuring this beautiful wedding on Style Me Pretty‘s blog today! You rock! From the Bride: ” Sean and I met five years ago in Dunedin, New Zealand. Sean came over from the US for six months on a study abroad program, and we immediately knew things were going to get complicated!  We dated long distance for the next three years, seeing each other only twice a year, but were then lucky enough to have six months living in the same city (Sydney, Australia) in 2009.  More long distance ensued while Sean completed grad school in Boston, halfway through which he popped back to NZ to propose to me on a perfect sunny day on Waiheke Island.  A little over a year later we were married at almost the exact same spot!” sj01.5.jpgsj01.7.jpg

sj03.jpg“We wanted to showcase New Zealand (after all, we were lucky enough to have people traveling from all over the world!), so a quintessentially New Zealand location that had gorgeous scenery and excellent food and wine was key – Mudbrick Vineyard was perfect!  Our families and many of the guests hired holiday houses (called a “bach” in NZ) on Waiheke for the time surrounding the wedding, so there was plenty of pre- and post-wedding celebrating.  Our travel theme was an easy choice, considering the thousands of miles we’ve traveled to see each other over the years, the many guests traveling from all corners of the globe, and the fact that now with families in two different countries there will be plenty of travel ahead!   We both love maps and old letters and parcels wrapped up with string, so we had great fun bringing it all together.  I fell in love with the bridesmaids’ dresses at first sight, so styled things around them as well, keeping things romantic and soft with an old-fashioned feel.”

sj17.jpgOh and I forgot to mention. Not only are Sean and Jenny two of the sweetest people they are two of the most carefree people as well! It was raining on and off the whole day but that didn’t discourage them from taking photos outside.

sj59.jpg“With so many wonderful and special moments it’s hard to pick just one! We both would agree though that one of the most memorable moments was when Sean’s sister Nikki (his best man!) surprised us by finishing her heartfelt speech with a rap outlining our story, backed up by the rest of the bridal party (sounds weird, but had us and all the guests crying with laughter!).  It’s true, hidden talents always come out at weddings!  Our ceremony was also fantastic – it had been drizzling on and off all day, so we held our breaths for the ceremony, but to no avail – it started drizzling half way through!  Our guests were so good-natured and practical, hauling out umbrellas and draping tea towels over carefully arranged hair, and not for a moment letting the dampness dampen the festivities!  All the more funny stories to share afterward!  Also, having Jenny’s ninety-four year old grandmother out from South Africa was wonderful.”
